Details
For 30 years, the Black Men of Labor, Inc., has stood as a proud guardian of the New Orleans' Black cultural traditions, carrying forward the spirit of New Orleans Traditional Jazz, the traditions of enslaved ancestors, street parading and community service and empowerment. Founded to preserve and celebrate the city's rich musical heritage, the organization has evolved as a living testament to the power of art, culture, music and unity.
A Symphony of Three Decades is more than a celebration-its is a reflection of the journey, resilience, and accomplishments of the Black Men of Labor. Over the three decades, the organization has honored, uplifted, musicians, culture bearers, community, and leaders who shaped New Orleans into the global epicenter of jazz. Through parades, performances, and community services and programs, the BMOL continues to inspire new generations while paying tribute to those who pioneered and came before.
This milestone celebration recognizes not only the rhythms of jazz music but also the organization's lasting commitment to its people, service, preservation, and the elevation of Black culture in New Orleans.
